Why do we need laws for dangerous goods? Handled incorrectly, dangerous goods can endanger people and/or
the environment. To prevent this occurring, laws have been developed
for the safe handling and transportation of dangerous goods. These
laws set out rules, procedures and guidelines relating to the safe
transport of dangerous goods. They include rules for everyone involved
in the transport of these goods, plus penalties for those who do
not follow the rules. In Queensland, the relevant law is the Transport
Operations (Road Use Management - Dangerous Goods) Regulation 1998. Followmont Transport Pty Ltd abides by the conditions as set out by the Australian Dangerous Goods Code. As noted above, everybody involved in the transportation of dangerous goods has particular responsibilities and rules relating to their role.
