North Queensland Flooding – Update 29th March

We would like to thank our customers for their understanding during the recent weather conditions affecting the North QLD district.

Our Followmont team came together to ensure we were able to provide the best possible service despite the road closures and flooding.

Big thank you to our teams and our wonderful customers!

UPDATE 29th March

We presently are experiencing some service delays to locations north of Townsville due to some unrelenting weather conditions causing flooding and the closure of the Bruce Highway south of Ingham.

While we are still able to access these northern locations; the detoured route adds significant kilometers and is causing delays in service/delivery times.

We appreciate everyone’s understanding during this period and can assure you that we are doing everything in our power to provide the best service possible.

UPDATE 12th March

We are still experiencing some service delays in North Queensland due to some unrelenting weather conditions causing extensive flooding throughout the North QLD district.

  • Presently, any freight for locations north of Townsville is delayed with flooding through Ingham, Cardwell and local flooding in Innisfail and Cairns.
  • The highway to Mt Isa has opened, however after a week of closures there will continue to be delays as we process the backlog. Followmont has actioned additional resources to assist with processing as soon as possible.
  • Ingham is still flooded and the highway is closed to heavy vehicles.  Over the weekend we travelled inland to continue our service as best we can, which doubled normal timeframes but resulted in freight slowly reaching the appropriate Followmont Branches in most northern locations with the exception of Ingham.
  • Mt Isa freight will continue to see delays as we process the backlog to these locations north of Townsville.

We appreciate everyone’s understanding during this period and assure you we are doing everything in our power to provide the best service possible.

Our thoughts are with the families and businesses who have been affected by the recent weather conditions. Please stay safe and travel with care.
